SMTP.com's Defender worked for me!

SMTP Reputation Defender helped, and the free trial for new users is fair.

Good deal on Annual plan

I was looking for a new email service and decided to try SMTP.com. I signed up for an annual plan after comparing a few options. The annual discount made it a really good value compared to monthly. Setting up SPF and DKIM was pretty straightforward with their documentation. The Transactional Email API was exactly what my project needed, and it integrated without much fuss. Overall, I feel like I got a solid service for a fair price, definitely worth the money I spent.

Easy to set up a Dedicated IP

Needed a Dedicated IP Address for a project I was working on. Signed up with SMTP.com and it was pretty simple to get it all going. I just followed the steps, and it was active faster than I thought it would be. No big dramas or anything. Seemed to do what it said it would, which is always good. Happy with how it turned out.

Consistent performance, good value

This was my third time using SMTP.com, specifically for their High Volume Email Sending. Like my previous experiences, everything was smooth. The deliverability is always consistent, and I appreciate not having to worry about my emails getting lost. I keep coming back because they're reliable, and the service always performs as expected, which isn't always the case with other providers.

Email Tracking is a game-changer!

I can't believe how much I love the Email Tracking feature! It's so easy to see what's happening with my emails. Setup was a breeze, and it just works perfectly. I'm telling everyone I know about SMTP.com, they absolutely need to try it out. I'm definitely going to use them again for all my email needs!

Decent service, minor hiccup

I used their SMTP Relay Service for a new application. The setup was mostly fine, and the email delivery has been pretty solid overall. I did have a small issue with bounce management initially, where some of the logs weren't as clear as I'd hoped, but customer support cleared it up after a day. It works well now. The Real-time Email Analytics are a nice touch, giving a good overview. For the price, it's a good service, though the logging could be a bit more intuitive from the start.

Considering switching from Mailgun to SMTP.com. Anyone have experience with both and can tell me if SMTP.com is actually better for deliverability, especially for transactional stuff?

T Troy S. 1 month ago
I used Mailgun for a while and then moved to SMTP.com for a project with higher volume. I've found SMTP.com's deliverability to be more consistent, especially with their Reputation Defender. Haven't had as many emails hitting spam folders.

It really depends on your specific use case. For pure transactional, both are good. SMTP.com has been around longer, so their infrastructure might be a bit more robust for really high volumes, but I wouldn't say one is definitively 'better' without knowing your needs.

Do they ever do coupon codes? Like for Black Friday or anything? Or is it mostly just the free trial kind of deal?

G Gwen Hughes 2 months ago
Coupon codes are super rare, almost never. They mostly focus on the free trials and then discounts for annual plans or higher volumes. Don't hold your breath for a BF code, generally.

I got a referral code once from a partner, but yeah, direct promo codes are not their thing. Your best bet for a discount is usually going annual or if you're a startup/non-profit, they sometimes have specific programs for that.

how long does it typically take to get an account approved? I need to get transactional emails set up pretty fast.

M Mike Whitfield 2 months ago
From my experience, it's pretty quick unless they need more info from you for compliance or something. Usually a day or two max to get the basic setup ready.

Mine was almost instant for a basic dev account. If you're setting up for a big business or high volume, they might take a bit longer to verify stuff, but for getting started, it's fast.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows if SMTP.com offers a free trial for their relay service? Wanna test it out before committing.

D Daisy K. 1 month ago
Yeah they totally do, I signed up for one last month to check out their deliverability. Pretty straightforward process.

They almost always have some kind of free trial or a developer trial available. It's how most people start with them, I think.

What's the deal with their annual billing? Does it actually save you a good chunk of change or is it like, a tiny discount?

N Neil Carter 2 months ago
It's not a tiny discount, usually around 10-20% compared to monthly. It adds up if you're planning to stick with them for a while.

Yeah, if you're sure you'll be using it, the annual plan is definitely worth it. I switched last year and saved a fair bit.
